The Blood and Non-Blood Family Reunion
Holly's Folly Realized!
Two years in the planning, numerous emails, a few phone calls, sharing of maps, 21 relatives and would- be relatives from Vancouver, Langley, Port Huron, Montreal, London, Paradise Valley and Mississauga came together for a weekend of fun and relaxation at Immokalee, the Canada day long weekend.
Immokalee is located about 5 minutes south of Lions Head near Georgian Bay located in Barrow Bay ON.
Arrival date for most was Saturday July 1, 2006. Happy Canada Day!
It's always good to arrive!
Immokalee is situated in the woods surrounded by beautiful perennial gardens. The Bruce Trail runs along the side of the property.
Tony and Jean checking out the daily news. Jean is a cousin that I just met for the first time this weekend. Within an half an hour at of being at my house she informs me of the meaning of Chicheralla (sp?), the pet name that my nana called me. Let just say I'm still tramatized. However, one can not stay mad at woman that brings 5 wild salmon, lox and Indian Candy to a family reunion. She was also my Uncle John's travel companion. She gets points for that as well.
Uncle John Robertson and my mom, Helen Pavan. Four-score and more; looking pretty good. This is the scottish contingent of the family. Quick to correct Jean on the Destiny Stone. Those Wops know nothing about Scottish history. Funny how both my Dad and my Aunt Norma knew that they needed to temper some of the hot Italian blood with some cooler Scottish sensibility.
The only woman crazy enough to bring this group together. My cousin Holly Robertson with my nephew Mike.
Stuart checking out the gunpowder! "Don't play with fireworks in the house." Hmm?! I think this family has a thing for getting the sparks flying.
Swapping stories over a few predinner snacks.
So what do you like best about the "Mothership?" My cousin Bruce just can't decide what he likes best about being a company man.
Unlce John filleting the salmon that Jean brought from BC.
A little rain sure brings people closer together!
BBQ lid up or down? The verdict is "lid up or shut up!" Dave is married to Holly. I'm sure this Kiwi wonders how he ended up here.
A view of Georgian Bay from near Tony's cottage.
An abandoned out building on his property.
Some of the gang decided to go for a hike. Thankfully all came back.
My brother Jerry and Tao at the Sandy Beach, Lake Huron side of the Pennisula
The rain date for the fireworks was Sunday night. Here Mike is showing his pyrotechnic skills.
The next morning started with a rousing game of badminton for some.
A good part of day on Monday was spent back at the Sandy Beach. That is my niece strutting her stuff at the beach. More likely she is furious at Brad for taking her picture full on in her bathing suit. I have to point out the wierd fog in this picture. For about an hour in the afternoon some sort of creepy fog rolled in off the lake. It makes it look like we are using a frosted lens.
Jeremy doing laps around Bruce.
Looks like Jeremy has launched off in this photo.
Doesn't everyone want a condo/castle on the beach?
That's it that's all.
